TOEFL Reading Tips
– First and foremost thing you need to do is, increase your vocabulary skills. If you encounter a complex word at the beginning of the paragraph, you may lose confidence and may not understand the basic idea behind.
– Instead of reading each and every sentence slowly, try to get a glimpse of the paragraph and get a basic idea. Once this is done, you can start reading and understanding each sentence.
– If there are any complex words, try to frame the meaning based on the context
– Practice reading several categories of topics covering all the subjects like business, arts, science geography, history etc.
– Focus on the first paragraph as it contains the basic idea and the main concept.
– Since you are allowed to take notes in TOEFL, make a note of the main idea, few imp points and the summary in a few words.
– Most of the topics can be organized into charts and bars. If you feel that such a topic is given, frame the diagrams. This will help you answer the questions with ease.
